Title: Berkshire Covid latest as 428 new cases are reported and infection rates rise

Berkshire has recorded another rise in coronavirus cases - with a further 428 positive tests in just 24 hours according to the latest figures published today (Monday, July 19).

However, the daily figure is down from Sunday's increase of 575. The biggest increase - with 87 new cases - was in West Berkshire.
The second-highest was in Bracknell Forest, where there were 80 new cases, followed by 79 in Wokingham, 74 in Windsor and Maidenhead, and 62 in Reading.

The smallest increase was in Slough, where there were 46 cases.

The highest infection rate is still in Bracknell Forest, where there are 421.1 cases per 100,000 people.

As of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 39,950 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

A further 19 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 128,727.

Government data up to July 18 shows that of the 82,413,766 Covid jabs given in the UK, 46,314,039 were first doses, a rise of 18,186 on the previous day.

Some 36,099,727 were second doses, an increase of 128,878.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending July 14:

Reading: 296.1 (up from 278.2 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 276 (up from 247)
Slough: 213.3 (up from 179.9)
Bracknell Forest: 421.1 (up from 370.5)
Wokingham: 253.6 (up from 232)
West Berkshire: 249.9 (up from 215.2)
