Title: Cookham Twinning
Post by: Cookham Webmaster on August 09, 2021, 11:55:18 AM
From Cookham's Twin Village in France

At the end of October 2020, and like every year since 1994, a group made up of Sancto-Benedictines and their friends from their English twin was to meet for a weekend in Cookham, England, harmoniously mixing convivial moments and cultural outings. The pandemic decided otherwise. We hope now to visit in October 2021. The visits (Stanley Spencer Gallery, Windsor Castle, Oxford University), a simple stroll along the Thames , playing Skittles (a traditional English game) in a Pub , with a good English beer (of course!) Or eating an Indian meal hosted by a jazz group are amongst the many unforgettable memories that we want to relive as soon as possible. We want to believe that the dream is going to become reality.

Sadly we have just heard that Saint Benoit have decided to defer their visit until October 2022. There is too much uncertainty and complication about travel at the moment, and all visitors would currently be required to undertake a Covid test on arrival, costing approximately £50. I understand their concerns and fully support their decision, even though it is disappointing to have to postpone again.
