Title: Covid Latest
Post by: Cookham v Coronavirus on November 11, 2021, 05:28:56 PM
Transmission in the borough continues to fall and, as of today, is at 387.4 per 100,000. This is now similar to the South East average and only just above the England's. There's a fear however, this trend will reverse now schools have returned from half term.

Ages five to 16 continue to be the hardest hit, although infections among other ages do appear to be easing a little.

Hospitalisations however are beginning to rise, with a worrying increase in the number of double-jabbed older people being admitted. It’s no longer the case, locally and nationally, that 95% of patients admitted to hospital with Covid are unvaccinated. Health experts believe this is due to waning immunity among older age groups as they reach their booster deadline. Health experts also remain concerned about the low vaccine uptake among pregnant women.

Another worrying development is an increase in Covid outbreaks in hospitals, and in primary care, caused by visitors seeding this transmission. Please remember, in healthcare settings, to wear a face covering, wash or sanitise your hands, and to socially distance.
