Title: Met Office issues Yellow warning for ice across Berkshire in wake of Storm Arwen
Post by: Cookham Webmaster on November 28, 2021, 04:33:18 PM
The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for ice in areas of Berkshire.

The Yellow weather warning is in place from 3pm today (November 28) until 10am on Monday, November 29.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays due to accidents as a result of the ice.

This warning covers the areas such as Newbury, Thatcham and Hungerford.

Berkshire is expected to brace icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Those who will be out and about, either walking to work or elsewhere are being alerted to the dangers of falling over.

The warning states: "Showers or longer spells of sleet and snow should tend to clear this evening.

"As skies clear, a widespread frost will develop, leading to the chance of icy surfaces in these areas, and also where lying snow has partly melted during the day".

People should therefore be extra careful today when out walking on pavements, particularly where they have not been gritted.

The Yellow weather warning means there is going to be delays to public transport such as buses and trains - especially on the roads.
