Title: Crime Update
Post by: Thames Valley Police on January 24, 2022, 04:26:33 PM
FIRST:  ANOTHER SCAM INCIDENT IN A SUPERMARKET CAR PARK:

22/1  Sunday King Edward Court.  The aggrieved was shopping in Windsor. She paid for her shopping and used a cashpoint. She also had an issue with her Debit card when paying for the parking ticket.  She went to her car and was about to pull away, when she saw two men standing there.  One of the men tapped on the window and told her that someone had damaged the rear of her car.  He said it looked like someone had hit her car with a trolley. He is described as Asian, 5'4 to 5'5 tall, slim build, in his 30s or 40s, short black hair, stubbly beard with a thicker moustache.  He was wearing a beige jacket, which was zipped up.

He looked directly at her and said, 'YOU NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL'. When she got back into the car about 5 minutes later, she realised that her purse and contents were missing.

The offenders have then managed to take £4,000 from her account.  The bank have confirmed that the offenders attempted to use the card fraudulently in Slough, later that day. The ban have also confirmed that the offenders have transferred money from a savings account, into the current and have then taken the money from there.

The offenders have then withdrawn £950.  Apparently a further £2000 was taken.

Contact will be made with the bank, to establish how the fraudulent transactions were made.

PLEASE BE ON YOUR GUARD, WE HAVE NOW HAD SEVERAL OF THESE SCAM INCIDENTS IN OUR SUPERMARKET CAR PARKS.

NEXT:  The man going door to door offering to buy unwanted gold and jewellery:

Last week male in 20's was leaflet dropping.  An hour later, a man in his 50's knocked on door asking for unwanted gold / silver
On Monday the 24th at 11.10 a.m. he knocked on door again- asking for gold and silver again.  My elderly father spoke to him and went to get 2 gold coins he had.  He showed the coins to the man and he appeared very interested.  He said he was going to his van to get his valuation book and would be back shortly - but he hasn’t returned.

PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH ANYONE WHO COLD CALLS AT THE DOOR.
