Halloween is fast approaching. We want to give you some tips on how to stay safe if staying in or going out during this time.
Attached is a leaflet that can be printed out and placed by your front door, if you would like to discourage those knocking on your door.

When trick or treating:
• A responsible adult should accompany young children on the neighbourhood rounds
• If your older children are going alone, plan and review a route acceptable to you
• Agree on a specific time children should return home
• Teach your children never to enter a stranger's home or car
• Instruct children to travel only in familiar, well-lit areas and stick with their friends
• Take care to avoid any food allergies
• Wear an item that is high visibility, or carry torches to make yourselves and your route visible to others
• Take care when crossing roads and using walkways
Tips for motorists:
● Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs
● Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully
● At twilight and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing
