M4 closures return this weekend, with drivers warned to allow more time for their journeys. There will be overnight closures in Berkshire.
No traffic will be able to join the westbound carriageway at junction 5 for Langley on Friday night. The entry slip road for drivers heading towards Slough and Reading, will be closed from 9pm until 6am on Saturday, January 7.
A diversion will be in place taking drivers to junction 6 at Slough. The M4 roadworks are part of National Highways smart motorway project.
Drivers are also warned to expect delays as a 12 mile stretch of the M4 is set to close this weekend. The westbound carriageway will be shut overnight on both Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8.
The closure between junction 12 at Theale and junction 13 Chieveley/Newbury will begin at 9pm each night with the motorway due to reopen by 6am the following morning. Drivers will be diverted off the M4 at Theale on the A4 Bath Road, A4 London Road at Benham Hill and then onto the A339 before joining the A34, to rejoin the motorway at junction 13. The 16 mile diversion is likely to add at least 15 minutes onto journey times.
