More than 100 fish have been found dead in the York Stream by Environment Agency officers.

Users on social media reported seeing some dead fish in the water near Stafferton Way.

The agency stated that it was alerted to reports of this in the stream on Wednesday, June 14.

Officers attended the site and confirmed that more than 100 fish were found dead in the watercourse.

This is likely to have been caused by a deterioration in the quality of water, after the recent thunderstorms, the agency said.
