A cat rescue and rehoming charity in the Thames Valley will be returning to the 1970s with a themed dinner and disco to raise money for its work.
Attendees will get the chance to enjoy a two-course meal at the event by Thames Valley Animal Welfare (TVAW) in Pinder Hall in Cookham on Saturday, July 22 from 7pm.
The charity has homed more than 12,000 cats during its 40 years.
However, this year, the charity has seen a major increase in the number of unwanted cats and kittens being handed in for rehoming, due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
This has led to ‘greatly increased running costs’, and due to the charity being entirely dependent on donations, it is holding this event to increase its revenue.
Included in the £25 ticket price will be a two-course dinner of lasagne (vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free version will be available) and accompaniments, with a classic cheesecake for dessert.
The dinner will be followed by a Seventies-themed disco.
More than 700 hits from the decade have been compiled by DJ David, who will also be playing requests.
Revellers will also be in with the chance of scooping the prize for the best outfit from the ‘decade that taste forgot’.
A cash bar will be available on the night serving wines, Rebellion beer and soft drinks, and a raffle will also take place with prizes on offer.
Cheryl Wilde, fundraising events consultant at TVAW, said: “This will be a fantastic opportunity to support a long-established, local charity and a very worthwhile cause, whilst enjoying a trip back to the world of Saturday Night Fever.”
