I went to Brunel Uni yesterday, to discuss the ‘Give and take Care’ Volunteer Bank project, with other partners and organisations. We received a full explanation of how the project works in Europe and how the group would like to introduce it to RBWM. For those people who unofficially ‘volunteer’ - carers, drivers etc. The group will prepare role profiles which I will circulate, next week. This way, people who volunteer in their communities - helping others - can be recognised, for the brilliant work they do. The group hope to work with local businesses, to develop a discount card.
Generally, volunteers do not need or want recognition, for what they do, many do not even claim expenses, but we, as a community, need to recognise the enormous contribution they make and thank them. Long term carers for example, often suffer financially and have little time to carry out essential tasks. The volunteer bank, would be a way of connecting with other volunteers, who can reach out to them to say - don’t worry about your garden, I know you won’t have time to mow the lawn and make it look good, I love gardening, but don’t have one of my own and would love to come and help you with yours and take that worry off your shoulders.
Let’s see how we go. We are at the very initial stages. If you are part of a group that would like to be involved, please let me know. We are creating an Exec group of ‘doers’.
On Wednesday I presented to the ‘U3A’ - Windsor University of the Third Age - a fantastic and vibrant group, with dozens of very varied interest groups. More information go to

11/3 - 11/4 Horton Close. A window cleaner noticed marks around a window frame, looking like an attempt to force it open. No entry gained and nothing stolen.
11/4 - 12/4 Thursday 11.30 p.m. / Friday 6.20 a.m. Holmanleaze. Car rear windscreen smashed - vandalism.
11/4 Thursday 4.45 p.m. / 6.15 p.m. Nicholson’s Walk. Locked up bike stolen.

8/3 - 11/4 Fane Way. Fence vandalised and rear glass in a rear door smashed. Vandalism
OLDFIELD & BRAY:
10/4 Wednesday 2.20 p.m. Windsor Road. Burglary. Property being renovated broken into and car stolen from the driveway. CCTV from a neighbour captured a small black car turning into the road and pulling up outside the house. A man gets up and walks to the property followed shortly by a second man. 6 minutes later, the car is seen being driven away. The whole thing lasted 9 minutes. The stolen car is a black BMW M1351 index S * NKM. The keys had been kept on a hook in the kitchen.
11/3 - 12/4 Meadow Way, Fifield. The owner has returned to find a house window smashed.
11/4 Thursday 2 p.m. / 4.50 p.m. Farm, Ockwells Road. Van break - both rear windows smashed - tools stolen.
11/4 - 12/4 Thursday 10 p.m. / Friday 7.30 a.m. Maple Close. Van break - The rear doors were left open by mistake and all the tools inside stolen.
