The government has again made clear that financial services are critical so we are going to continue to do our best to support you. But as our own people are affected by coronavirus too, there are 3 simple but urgent things you can do to help us sustain our service to you and your fellow members.

This email reflects the latest government advice, but please ensure you have the latest on our services by checking our coronavirus support page on our website.

1. Do everything you can online or on our Banking app
Go to our coronavirus support page for a summary of all the services and support we now offer online.

2. Please don’t call us if you can at all avoid it
We’re getting many more calls and messages than usual which is making it so hard to answer or respond to people quickly. To ensure we can help those with the most immediate financial need, please only get in touch if it’s absolutely essential.

Please do not call us:
•   To find out the status on something you have already requested such as a payment holiday – we are dealing with those requests as quickly as we can and know that speed is of the essence.
•   If you’re able to complete your request online – for example you can now apply for a mortgage payment holiday on our website as well as doing all your usual day to day banking.

3. Stay away from our branches if you can
The government’s latest advice around social distancing and the need to protect the most vulnerable in our society by asking them to stay at home means we need to change the branch services we offer.

We’re reducing branch opening hours

The core hours in our branches will be reducing from Tuesday 24 March. We are only offering basic day-to-day banking services and we may need to temporarily close branches at short notice, so please check the latest on our branch finder before you travel.

We’re enforcing social distancing

If you do have to visit, you’ll only be able to come inside our branch when it’s safe to do so, which means you may need to queue outside the branch if it’s busy.

We’ll ask you to respect social distancing measures we have in place. That means standing two metres away from colleagues and other members.

If you have to queue outside, please ensure you keep each other safe by maintaining the two metre gap outside too.

Please don’t visit us in branch if you or someone in your household has a new and continuous cough or a high temperature. This is so important if we are to protect our NHS and save lives.

How we can support you online and in app
On our website, you’ll find:

Our coronavirus support page

It has info on what to do about holidays and travel insurance, how to manage your banking from home, and what to do if you’re worried about your mortgage, credit card, savings, or money in general.

Stay safe from fraud
It’s important to know that some criminals are using coronavirus to trick people into sharing personal or financial information through emails and calls. Take a moment to read our guidance on staying safe from fraud and other scams.

As a building society, our story is one of mutual support - something that’s more important now than ever before.

Let’s do the right thing and take care of each other. Thank you.
