Following the government announcement, Claires Court closed its sites to pupils from Friday March 20 until further notice.

The school will continue its curriculum through online classrooms and distance learning using G Suite tools, Google classrooms and other services to ensure students get the best possible education and experience they can during the national closure. This includes activities and tips for parents of nursery children through to study and tutorials for the junior and senior school, and sixth form students.

James Wilding, Academic Principal, said: “These are unprecedented events in modern times so we are all adapting, including using new ways of teaching. Our priority is to maintain the wellbeing of all of our school community and continue to deliver the best education that we can. Our experience with the use of educational technology in our community will definitely come into its own to assist in combating these adverse circumstances. For our younger children, our Nursery team is creating short videos to share with ideas for activities and stimulation.

“It is a worrying time and I urge everyone to support one another. Every child in the country will be out of school and a priority should be mental health and wellbeing during this time of increased tension. We will continue our educational programmes and pastoral support online and when we can return to schools we will be able to help fill in any gaps. Households shouldn’t put any pressures on themselves; the way we cope and manage will stay with our children, and every household is different.”

All Claires Court’s families have been contacted directly with information and guidance around the closure and distance learning. Information is also available at www.clairescourt.com or on Claires Court’s social media.

Mr Wilding added: “We are truly appreciative of the support we’ve received from our staff and our families in these unique times. Everyone is working immensely hard and we are endeavouring to provide the best continuity we can in the circumstances. We wish everyone in the wider community well.”

Claires Court is an independent day school in Maidenhead for boys and girls aged three to 18 year olds. For more information and to book an open day visit, go to www.clairescourt.com.
