No new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Berkshire, according to the latest data released by Public Health England today (July 5).

The total number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 remains at 3,234. The figures show one more case for Slough and one less in Reading since yesterday.

The place with the highest number of cases in Berkshire is Reading with 766. Slough has 635, Bracknell has 375, West Berkshire has 472 and Wokingham has 587.

In Windsor and Maidenhead, 399 people have tested positive.

No additional deaths have been recorded across NHS trusts operating in Berkshire, with the total still standing at 568. See below for a break-down per trust:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust – 362
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust – 186
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - 20
It is important to note Frimley Health runs sites outside of Berkshire, for example Frimley Hospital in Surrey, so it is hard to get an accurate figure for the exact amount of deaths in Berkshire alone.

The UK-wide coronavirus death toll increased by 22 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 44,220. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in the UK is 285,416.

The latest figures come as pubs reopened yesterday on what was dubbed Super Saturday, with Health Secretary Matt Hancock saying the vast majority of people who went out behaved responsibly.

Speaking on Sky’s Ridge On Sunday, Mr Hancock said: “Well I think that from what I’ve seen, although there’s some pictures to the contrary, very, very largely people have acted responsibly. The large proportion of people, the vast majority of people are, I think, doing the right thing.”
