ANOTHER COLD CALLING INCIDENT - BOGUS BUILDER IN WINDSOR:
An unknown man cold called at the front door, offering to do some work on the roof.
The victim knew, some work did needed doing. The man said that a neighbour had had work done, which was true. He did not though, confirm that it was he, who did the work.
He quoted a very reasonable price. The victims telephoned someone they thought could advise and they spoke to the man. After the call, that person said it seemed a reasonable price and so, the victims decided to have the work done.
The only thing which worried them at the time, was that the man came into the hall uninvited and he was told to go outside, which he did.
The victim found enough cash in the house, for the man to go and get the materials he needed.
Later, the victims realised that he had not returned and they had been duped.
During the evening they went to a cash point and realised a wallet was missing. It is believed, it was on a bookcase in the hall, when the man came in uninvited.
AND ANOTHER IN MAIDENHEAD:
It appears from a report to Action Fraud, made by a friend of the victim that a group of men came to the address, cold calling at the door, saying that they needed work done on the roof. They reminded the victims that approximately 5 years before, they did some work on their shed.
The victim has been made to make payments upfront. This month she has paid them a very large amount of money and they have told her she still owes a huge amount.
The victim, is not aware of the extent of the work they have completed.
Victims List
Once someone has been a victim of fraud it likely they may be contacted again in the future as personal details are added to what is known as a “Victims List”. These will get sold onto other fraudsters so it is important to remain vigilant for all types of scams. The below advice will help insulate the victim against many types of scams.
Call Blocking
Most service providers will offer a call blocking solution, to block nuisance callers. In the majority of cases this is free of charge.
Service providers have also been known to offer number changes free of charge if nuisance calls continue to persist. A ‘Call Blocker’ phone - an inexpensive solution, may be advisable - but in this case, as in many others, the scammers simply cold call at the door !
Telephone Preference Service - TPS
The Telephone Preference Service is a free service which allows you to opt out of receiving unsolicited sales or marketing calls.

NEXT - DEVON AND CORNWALL POLICE HAVE EMAILED ALL LOCAL POLICE FORCES WITH DETAILS OF LARGE SCALE FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY HAPPENING IN TVP AREA.
Multiple potentially vulnerable victims appear to have been scammed to believe they are in a relationship with a man or woman they have met on an online dating site.
The victims are being asked to receive multiple parcels to their home address, then re-package them and send them to an address in Slough.
The police have a list of the potential victims, who are sending these parcels to the address in Slough and will be visiting each of them.
The items they are receiving and forwarding have been obtained by fraudulent purchases on online selling sites and include phones, tablets etc. It is a scam. The original vendors, received an email, purportedly from Paypal, confirming payment has been made and dispatched the items. The email from Paypal is fraudulent.
The offenders perpetrating the frauds, appear to be In Nigeria.

My name is Tracey Croucher, I have been in my new role as NH Geographic / Engagement Inspector for 5 weeks now, so I am still finding my feet, but I have a great NH Team around me, who all know what they’re doing.
