A GOOD 48 HOURS - ONLY TWO CRIMES TO REPORT

JUST TO BE AWARE:

24/8 - 25/8  Monday 10 a.m. / Tuesday 6 a.m.  Ascot.  A Land Rover Defender 300 T from 1994, has had parts stripped from it, including headlights, radiator guard, front grills and indicators.  Fixing bits etc. left in the road.  Sometimes older cars, are used as a source for parts, which may be difficult to obtain.  If you do have an older car, please take additional precautions at this time.

CRIME:

I have attached reference numbers to each crime report. If you live in the vicinity of any of the crimes mentioned and have CCTV or a video doorbell, can you please check the footage. I have added a new email address below.  The first email address is directly to your local Neighbourhood Team.  The second is to our investigation team.  Please use it to send any intelligence / video doorbell / CCTV footage you may have, which is relevant to any of the crimes lists below - quoting the reference number.

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:-

FIRST:  An email sent to Brian, supposedly from the DVLA, confirming his application to register his car as SORN and offering a refund on the current car tax !

If you place your curser over the LINK - you will see where any email would actually go.  In this case - it is not to the DVLA - but an email address in Belize !!!

Always do that, as your first step, to see if an email is genuine.  If you use the curser and can see the email will go to the DVLA, at a site which is secure - in which case, the address should start with ‘https’ - the s on the end, means it is a secure site.  If it is just ‘http’, it is not secure and if it is supposed to be a bank, government site or large real organisation - it won’t be genuine !

If you get one of these, don’t click on the link to cancel the email or find out more - it is fake email - bin it !
NEXT:  From ‘B’,

I received a letter to my Wife, who has been deceased, since 2005.

The letter is from a company claiming that underground electric cables cross the garden at my address.

They say, they will obtain from the Electricity[PJ1]  company, an rental agreement for 15 years and I will receive the sum of £150.

The electricity company they mention, after some checks, does not seem to exist.  My property was built in 1963 and this has never been mentioned before!
I think it is a scam. I have not responded and will shred it.

Have heard of this ?.

I haven’t - has anyone else out there received anything similar Huh

NEXT:  ‘K’ has received a letter from an Italian Lottery - addressed to her as Lucky Winner !

Hi

I have just received a flyer through the post from an Italian Lottery compay.  Apart from the fact I’ve never bought a lottery ticket from these people, it’s addressed to “Lucky Winner”.

I doubt such a genuine big win would be addressed like that.

Sorry - if you get one of these - just bin it.  If you don’t enter - you cannot win !!!
