Coronavirus in Berkshire round up - Thursday, November 26

ALMOST 200 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

Public Health England has recorded 193 lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures are correct as of Thursday, November 26, at 4pm.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 38 cases, 2,566 total

West Berkshire - 18 cases, 1,622 total

Bracknell Forest - 23 cases, 1,377

Wokingham - 29 cases, 2,023

Slough - 69 cases, 3,617 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 16 cases, 2,302 total

There have now been 1,574,562 people across the UK who have tested positive for the virus.

The total number of deaths - those with Covid-19 listed on their death certificate - across the UK has now reached 66,713.

Locally, there were no deaths recorded in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

The local seven-day rate of infection per 100,000 people is as per below:

Reading - 145.3

West Berkshire - 89

Bracknell Forest - 67.7

Wokingham - 109.3

Slough - 313.6

Windsor and Maidenhead - 137.4

The government announced today which tiers each part of the country would be in when lockdown lifts on December 2.

More than 55 million people in England will continue to face strict coronavirus curbs after the national lockdown lifts.

Only the Isle of Wight, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly - accounting for little over 1 per cent of England's population - have been placed in the lowest Tier 1 set of restrictions, with all other areas set to face more serious limits to their freedom.

Large swathes of the Midlands, North East and North West are in the most restrictive Tier 3, but the majority of people - including London - will be in Tier 2.

Some 23.3 million people - 41.5 per cent of the population of England - will face the most stringent restrictions, while 32 million people, which is 57.3 per cent of the population, will be in the second tier.
