While walking up Dean Lane today from the Cookham Rise direction, and just past Warner's Hill, we witnessed just how dangerous the recently installed new' traffic calming scheme' there really is.
A cyclist coming towards Cookham from the direction of Herries had to swerve into the wrong side of the road as they swept past this inane and insane traffic scheme.
Simply put, coming from the Herries School direction, be you cyclist or driver, you will find yourself on the wrong side of the road, just before a blind bend where drivers coming towards you will suddenly, (and maybe at speed) encounter you in their lane.
Large HGV's have a momentum coming down a hill that makes it impossible for them to suddenly slam on their brakes, when without warning, they encounter this stupid scheme.
Completely pointless, dangerous, ugly and nonsensical.
If traffic needs calming, this is certainly a fantastic model for how not to do it.
Whose idea was this, and how on earth did it ever get past any planning committee?

I cannot believe that anything like that was agreed in a village in a rural area. It will be like that stupid idea they had along the river in Maidenhead with those chicanes, which cost a fortune and then had to be removed in the end. Why was it needed anyway? Was it because a councillor happens to live up the road?
