A further 26 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Berkshire - while three areas saw their infection rate go up.

Reading saw the biggest increase in infections in the last 24 hours, according to the latest Public Health England statistics on Sunday (May 23).

There were 12 new cases in the town, plus seven in Slough, three in Wokingham and two in both Bracknell Forest and West Berkshire.

There were no new cases in Windsor and Maidenhead as of today's update.

Meanwhile the latest available weekly infection rate data up to May 18 shows increases in Reading, Slough and Wokingham.

There was no change in West Berkshire and Windsor and Maidenhead.

The Government said a further five people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 127,721.

As of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 2,235 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,462,538.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending May 18:

Bracknell Forest: 5.7 (down from 6.5)
Reading: 33.4 (up from 30.3)
Slough: 25.4 (up from 22.7)
West Berkshire: 34.1 (no change)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 10.6 (no change)
Wokingham: 20.5 (up from 15.2)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,121 cases (+2)
Reading: 11,061 cases (+12)
Slough: 15,675 cases (+7)
West Berkshire: 6,518 cases (+2)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,569 cases (-)
Wokingham: 8,341 (+3)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Friday, May 21 (this data is not published at the weekend):

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 501 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)
How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to May 22 shows that of the 60,587,098 jabs given in the UK so far, 37,943,681 were first doses – a rise of 205,410 on the previous day.

Some 22,643,417 were second doses, an increase of 556,951.
