Public consultation to help finalise Borough Local Plan

The public is invited to take part in a consultation to help finalise a key planning document.
 

The Borough Local Plan sets out a vision for the future for the Royal Borough up to 2033, and aims to guide and support future local regeneration and investment.
 

Shaped over many years through a series of previous consultations and hearings held by an independent inspector, it also outlines how many homes are required and where new developments can and cannot take place.
 

This latest consultation runs from Monday 19 July 2021 to Sunday 5 September.  At the inspector's request, the council is inviting comments (also known as representations) on the proposed main modifications which the inspector advises are necessary to make the plan sound and capable of adoption.
 

These changes include reinstating three sites in Maidenhead, Sunninghill, and Horton, reducing the number of dwellings on three small sites, and the removal of a suggested site at Englemere Lodge, Ascot.
 

Councillor David Coppinger, cabinet member for planning and environmental services, said: “I am very pleased to see that we are taking the next step towards adopting the Borough Local Plan.
 

“It is vital in helping to deliver the council’s placemaking and climate change ambitions. It will also support local investment, regeneration, jobs, and the right mix of homes in the correct places, to meet the needs and aspirations of our communities, in addition to infrastructure improvements such new roads and community facilities.
 

“This latest consultation gives residents the opportunity to comment on proposed changes from the planning inspector to support the soundness of the plan before adoption by the council.
 

“Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the development of the Borough Local Plan and in any previous consultations.”
