Windsor Great Park Illuminated will open this Christmas with a magical new light trail to explore.

It promises to make the park "come alive" on a very special trail with "dazzling lights, dancing stars, glimmering reflections and breath-taking projections".

How do I get tickets?

Windsor Great Park Illuminated starts on November 18 and will run every day until January 9, except for Christmas Day.

It will open from 4.30pm to 10pm, with the last entry at 8.30pm.

Tickets are sold as timed entry, in half hour slots. Organisers strongly recommend you book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Children aged 2 and under can enter for free, but must have a valid £0 ticket to enter.

You can also buy a family ticket, for two adults and two children. An off-peak ticket is £62.50, and a peak ticket is £74.80.

Tickets can be purchased online. https://www.windsorilluminated.com/tickets/

Off-Peak Adult tickets are £21.45, and peak adult tickets are £26.95 (including booking fees).

Meanwhile, off-peak tickets are £13.20 for children aged 3 to 15, and peak tickets are £15.95.

How long is the trail?

The trail will roughly take between an hour and a half and two hours to walk.

It is 2.2km long but there will be opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way.

Stops to eat and drink will be located at the half-way point of the trail, and at the end.

The woodland is not suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters or buggies because of the terrain, which organisers say is "challenging" in wet weather.

Instead, they have created a shorter 45-minute diverted route that takes you along more even, asphalted paths.

What should I bring?

Organisers recommend you dress warmly and wear suitable footwear because the trail is outdoors. It's a good idea to bring an umbrella too!

There won't be a cloakroom available so you should avoid bringing large bags, because you'll have to carry your belongings on the trail.

They add that there will be lots of photo opportunities so make sure you have your camera or phone ready! Drones are not permitted.

You will be allowed to bring dogs, but they must be on a lead, and dog waste bins will be available at the park.

Hand sanitising stations will be available, and organisers are monitoring the government advice on coronavirus which will affect guidelines in place at the time of the event.

Is there parking?

Organisers say that parking is limited and a space must be purchased in advance along with your entry ticket.

They add that parking vouchers will be issued by See Tickets with your entry tickets and must be presented for scanning at the entrance to the car park.

If you are a member of Windsor Great Park and Friends of The Savill Garden, you'll be glad to hear that you can get one free car parking pass.

You will have to enter your membership number when you're buying your tickets to redeem it, as membership cards won't be accepted at the car park.
