A further 352 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

The new infections, announced today (Thursday, September 16) in the latest daily figures from Public Health England, mean there have now been 90,430 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

The highest number of new cases was in Windsor and Maidenhead, where 83 infections were found.

The second highest area was Reading where 73 positive tests were returned.

There were no new deaths recorded in Berkshire as of 9am today, meaning the number of Covid fatalities in the area remains at 1,470.

The Government said a further 158 people had died in the UK within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the national total to 134,805.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 159,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 26,911 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Government data up to September 15 shows that of the 92,732,958 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,503,181 were first doses.

Some 44,229,777 were second doses.

As of today the official coronavirus statistics used more up-to-date population figures from mid-2020 for its case rates per 100,000 people.

In addition, Thursday's UK cases, testing and vaccination figures do not include data from Scotland because of a technical issue.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 10:

Reading: 305 (down from 315.6)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 328.5 (down from 345.1)
