M4 closures on Friday, October 1

Junction 10-11 Reading

The M4 westbound will be closed between junction 10 for Wokingham and Bracknell and junction 11 for Reading from 8pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday, October 2.

The closure is part of ongoing National Highways' smart motorway works, to transform the M4 into four running lanes. Drivers will be diverted onto the A329M from junction 10, towards the Showcase roundabout at Winnersh and then onto B3270 Lower Earley Way before rejoining the motorway at junction 11 or via this route in reverse.

Junction 8/9 to 10 Maidenhead to Wokingham/Bracknell

Drivers will be diverted off the motorway on Saturday due to an overnight closure on the westbound carriageway. The M4 will be shut between junction 8/9 for Maidenhead and junction 10 for Wokingham and Bracknell from 8pm on Saturday, October 2 until 6am on Sunday, October 3.

A signed diversion will be in place.

The closure is part of ongoing smart motorway works which have led to 50mph limits along the road, and numerous closures while it is converted into four running lanes, between junction 3 at Hayes and junction 12 at Theale.

Junction 10 - 8/9 Wokingham and Bracknell to Maidenhead

The eastbound stretch of the M4, between junction 10 at Wokingham and Bracknell and junction 8/9 at Maidenhead, will be closed overnight on Sunday.

All motorway traffic will be diverted off the M4 after 8pm on Sunday, October 3, with the carriageway expected to reopen by 6am on Monday, October 4.

There will be a signed diversion in place and drivers should expect delays.

The overnight closure is part of National Highways' £848m controversial smart motorway project to convert the road to four running lanes with no hard shoulder.
