From Miriam Blazey
We are hosting an art exhibition at Elizabeth House to help another charity who have been hit by the pandemic.
All the paintings in this exhibition have been donated in support of the charity Oxfam. The money raised from the sales of these paintings will go towards helping people living in poverty and those facing emergencies caused by wars and natural disasters.
Because of the COVID pandemic, the situation for people who were already struggling has got much worse. And of course there has been a huge drop in the charity’s income as a result of the COVID restrictions in the UK for more than a year.
Two local artists - Teresa Southby and Jonathan Slack have generously donated 15 of their original paintings, while Maria Greenwood who now lives in Wales has donated 5 of her small nature pictures. Other works have been donated by Oxfam supporters.
Teresa Southby - lives in Marlow and has been a volunteer with Oxfam for 15 years. She has painted some lovely watercolours.
Jonathan Slack works with acrylics and mixed media and produces a colourful expressionistic style.
Frank Taylor has had a number of paintings sold at auction and exhibited at galleries and museums. Jonathan Slack has donated one of his paintings.
Richard Conway-Jones is a Twyford based artist, musician and writer. He has exhibited at Norden Farm and in London, and the Henley Arts trail. The paintings here have been donated by an anonymous supporter.
Rosemary Hitchman is a watercolour artist and ex-photographer. Her work can be seen all over the UK as she has produced many hand-painted pictorial house signs. ( Painting donated by Jonathan Slack)
