A VERY GOOD 48 HOURS – ONLY ONE CRIME TO REPORT – A THEFT OF A BIKE !

NO BURGLARIES

AND

NO CARS BROKEN INTO

FIRST: A very simple Fraud to report.

Last November, a resident in Datchet was cold called and a man at the door said he was a tree specialist and offered to do some garden work.  He did some work and the aggrieved gave him a cheque for £240, which was cashed.

Last weekend, the man returned and said he had mislaid the cheque, could the aggrieved give him another one.  The aggrieved handed him a signed blank cheque and asked him to fill in the amount necessary.  The aggrieved was later called by one of his carers and the carer immediately said the bank should be called to put a stop on the cheque, which had been presented for £300.

WE MUST CIRCULATE THE MESSAGE:

I AM SORRY, I DO NOT BUY GOODS NOR SERVICES AT THE DOOR !

NEXT:  FROM JESAL AT RBWM, FOR COMMUNITY ‘COMMUNICATION CHAMPIONS’.  Do you write / produce newsletters / updates to members of the community ?

Hello Jeff,

We are organising a ‘Champions’ event, in the historic Windsor Guildhall to thank those who support us and have communicated our messages out, to the wider community who live in RBWM over the last 2 years. The event will take place on Wednesday 4 May between 12pm and 2pm. and food and drink will be provided.

I was wondering if you could send it out an invitation in your next message, as we really want to thanks and support our existing Champions as well as recruit new Champions ?

The application link is below, for people to apply for a place.  It is open until next Tues.

‘Community Champions’, have a very clear and specific function.  We are looking for people, who are willing to share the information we send out, to all their friends, neighbours, family and the community, who live in the Royal Borough.

Once registered as a Community Champion, they will receive the information via an email and all they have to do – is circulate it.  It is purely a ‘Digital Information Champion’ role.

We will also have goodie bags, for everyone who attends.

The link to register for a place is https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/community-information-champions-celebration-event-tickets-315206931417
If they have any dietary requirements could they please email:  Sumayyah.Zeib@RBWM.gov,uk.

NEXT:  I attended a meeting of ‘WAM’ – a large group of all the volunteer organisations, which operate in RBWM on Wednesday 20th April.  They run loads of courses for residents, which are absolutely relevant.  Here are some dates and details of their website.  The training is beginning to go back to face to face:

Voluntary Sector Training:

www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/slough-cvs

Almost all the training is free to WAM groups and organisations – so – if you are a community / support group - sign up to join this group which meets once a quarter.  We encourage as many voluntary groups to sign up as possible – particularly if you are working on your own to support residents in your community:

Face to Face Saturday Volunteer Passport Dates:
14 05 2022 – Equality and Diversity (10 a.m. – 12 noon)
14 05 2022 – Adult safeguarding (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)
21 05 2022 – Communication Skills (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
21 05 2022 – Boundaries and Confidentiality (1 p.m. – 3 p.m.)

Report Writing Skills
05 05 2022 Thursday (10 a.m. – 12 noon)
12 05 2022 Thursday (10 a.m. – 12 noon)

The next group meetings of the WAM voluntary organisations are at 11 a.m. (presently Zoom – Asma sends out the link and you just have to sign in if you are not familiar with Zoom) on Wednesday 15th June, Wednesday 14th September and Wednesday 23rd November.  If you are a local voluntary organisation carers / support group – we look forward to your joining.

The WAM Group and the One Borough Group, are amazing.  All these voluntary groups get together and share what they are doing to support local communities – and just as importantly – how they can work together.  If you are a local group – just working on your own – please think of joining.

The WAM website is above – but if you want more information email Asma at asma@sloughcvs.org.uk
