A thunderstorm warning has been issued for Berkshire as the Platinum Jubilee weekend continues. The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning across the county and surrounding areas.

The warning, which covers the entire county including Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham, Windsor, Maidenhead and Newbury, is in force from midnight on Saturday, June 4, until 10am that morning. Traffic disruption is possible, as millions of people take to the road over the four-day-weekend.

The Met Office weather warning states: "While many places will stay dry, thunderstorms will bring heavy rain and lightning to some places early on Saturday. There is the possibility of thunderstorms moving north into southern counties of England during the early hours of Saturday, these then easing later in the morning.

"Many places will miss the worst of them, but where they do occur frequent lightning and heavy rain is possible. A few places could see 20-30 mm of rain within an hour, with a small chance of 50 mm in 2-3 hours, most likely near the south coast."

As the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday mini-break comes to a close the weekend will be wrapping up with a storm. An 18-hour thunderstorm warning has been issued covering Berkshire.

The weekend will finish with quite the crescendo for the majority of England and Wales. The yellow weather warning is in force from midnight until 6pm on Sunday, June 6.

It is the second weather warning to be issued in the past day - following a 10-hour warning on Saturday. The Met Office alert said: "Torrential downpours are likely in a few places with parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and southeast England most at risk.

Some places could see 15-20 mm in an hour, and perhaps up to 50 mm before storms fade, and hail may affect a few spots. These thunderstorms will slowly spread into southern parts of northern England on Sunday morning before easing".

BerkshireLive has looked at the Met Office forecast to see when the storms and torrential rain are expected to hit areas of the county tonight. As usual, we will deliver any breaking news incidents covering the storm.

Maidenhead will be hit by rain from midnight on Sunday, June 5 until 7am. There will be an odd downpour in Maidenhead after 7pm.
