SMARTPHONE TRAINING:You may remember I mentioned I have presented at The Union of Catholic Mothers in Maidenhead and suggested they have and use Smartphones.
The response was – we don’t have them and if we did, we would not know how to use them.
I worked with PC Mat Wingrove, who manages the Police Cadets, as we thought they would be experts in using Smart Phones and if we could train them to be ‘trainers’, they would be the ideal group to send out to show those not familiar with Smart Phones, the basics that they would need to know.
Last night …… they held their first training session with the Union of Catholic Mothers and Mat says it went really well ! The Cadets have been taught how to teach people slowly, from the beginning – how to turn it on ! Then how to make calls, send texts and take photos. Then how download necessary Apps, so they can ‘Facetime’ relatives !!

This issue will become more and more important, as the High Street banks close their branches and almost everything we now do, must be online, or via a mobile phone. We have to make the effort – even if we are resistant to the technology – as very soon, we will have no choice, or be ignored !
SPEEDINGNext: I have received loads of emails re speeding in local roads and how local residents, can deal with that issue.
The answer - is get together in your road and set up a Community Speedwatch. We unfortunately are no longer involved in this initiative and this has just been put out by the PCC:
Community SpeedWatch SchemeThe Community SpeedWatch scheme is set to provide communities with equipment and training to monitor speeding in their area.
Thanks to a new partnership with Community SpeedWatch UK, a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides support for SpeedWatch schemes, Thames Valley have taken a major step forward in the fight to improve road safety.
Organised by the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, SpeedWatch groups will be provided with a starter kit on a loan basis, including a speed detection device, to help volunteers to assist in the battle against speeding motorists.
Before community teams can be deployed to the roadside, they will undergo a number of training sessions online. Risk assessments will be completed by police to ensure safety at the roadside.
The new online platform allows group-related activities to be self-regulated via an online calendar and also provides vehicle make recognition training. DVLA pre-checks logged registration numbers for authenticity before automatically passing data on to the police for further processing. Existing Community SpeedWatch groups will be contact directly about restarting activity once coronavirus restrictions allow.
A six month trial will take place in pre-selected locations in order to test the new online platform and get feedback from volunteers. If successful the new scheme, including the loan of equipment will be rolled out to new and existing groups towards the end of 2021.

ANOTHER SEXTORTION:A young man has exchanged messages with a woman he had never met, on Instagram and snapchat. He then engaged in explicit messages and sent naked photos of himself. The minute they were sent, the person on the other end changed and a demand for money was sent, or the texts, photos and video would be shared with everyone in his personal address book !.
The victim has sent a total of £394 pounds so far. The victim has no idea who the woman was, where she lived nor has any contact details !

The following representatives will attend and are eager to meet you, They will be - the Citizens Advice Bureau, public health, benefit support, social prescribers, housing, Healthwatch, carers support, Thames Hospice, and People to Places.
There will also be World Cafes in Ascot and Sunninghill / Sunningdale on 7 July, Hurley and Walthams’ on the 21st July, details of times and venues to follow.
There are plans to hold ‘World Cafes’ in every ward in the Borough.
