26/2 Wednesday midnight / 3.30 p.m. Binfield Road, Shurlock Row.The owner returned to find their side garden gate open. They then found their rear patio door was smashed. Untidy search of the house. Jewellery and controllers for a play station 4 stolen.
27/2 Thursday 11.45 p.m. Strande Lane, Cookham. The owner’s burglar alarm sounded in an office at the bottom of their garden. The police were called and attended immediately. Bolts had been removed from the doors triggering the alarm. The offenders had made off immediately. No entry gained and nothing stolen.
PINKNEYS GREEN & FURZE PLATT:
We are appealing for any residents in the local area of St Marks Crescent, Maidenhead, who may have video doorbell cameras or Dash cam footage, of anyone in the area around hrs 2.50 a.m. on the 25th February. An unknown suspect entered a car and committed a theft. We are hoping that someone in the local area, may have footage to assist Police with their enquiries. If you have any information please phone 101 or report it online for the attention of Act. Sgt 5119 Dan Brown at Maidenhead Police Station.
26/2 1.45 a.m. Greenways Drive. CAR ENTERED BY UNKNOWN MEANS – a lead and garage fob stolen. A neighbour’s Video Doorbell has footage of a van pulling into the close at about that time !
26/2 Wednesday Midnight / 5 a.m. Clarefield Close. CAR ENTERED BY UNKNOWN MEANS – car searched and presents found under the seat unwrapped and stolen.

Over the last few days we have had reports of someone walking around Cox Green in the early hours in a suspicious manner. On Wednesday we had a report of someone stealing milk stolen from a doorstep. These incidents may be connected. Can people in the area, please check any doorbell video / cctv.
26/2 Wednesday 2.15 a.m. Palmers Close. The owners video doorbell has footage of a man trying car door handles and then stealing milk from the doorstep. We heavily promote video doorbells – please check yours for this type of offence regularly, even if you have not actually been the victim of a crime – you security may be really good !
28/2 3.55 a.m. Cadwell Drive. The owner was awoken by their video doorbell, which showed footage of a man opening and searching his car on the driveway. He shouted through the doorbell at the man, who immediately made off ! These gadgets are brilliant !
27/2 Thursday 11.10 p.m. Dunwood Court, Boyn Valley Road. Black BMW X^ series index CR ** BOS stolen from ar park attached to the block of flats.

The unfortunate person who acted on a call from the “BT Pro Care Team” is very likely to still be vulnerable, to future breaches.
The computer itself, is likely to be compromised.
When this type of attack is initiated, the attacker will create a “hidden” service account, or they will instal a key logger and/or other malicious code that compromises the security of the PC. Changing the user password will have no useful protective qualities at all.
In this case, the victim should either completely reinstall windows/OSX, on a newly formatted hard drive, or use quality, commercial anti-malware software to remove unwanted programs. If it were me, I’d do the former.
Changing passwords will not protect his/her PC. The system should be considered compromised and not used if personal information is present.
If you think this is valid information, please pass it to the victim, and make the point in future that changing passwords is of little value after the PC is compromised.
What this means, is that once you hand your computer over to someone – these scammers always ask you to do that by typing in some code and pressing enter, they ‘proxy’ your system and create a remote access, hidden amongst the software to enable them to access the computer at any time, without you knowing.
If you have every handed your computer over to someone in this way, take it to a computer repair shop to have it re-formatted back to factory settings.

I too have had a “BT” scammer. He said that they will be turning off my Internet, because my computer has been hacked. They then asked me to go to my computer and turn it on. I refused to do that and the conversation started to get nasty. I told him that I never turn on my computer for a stranger and that he must be a scammer !
The other one is Amazon Prime. I was told that my account has been hacked for about £37.00 and they could put it right, if I turn on my computer. They get the same treatment from me. Also I do not have an Amazon Prime account.
They are quite persistent and phone up, several days running, but not to-day fortunately.

We have received 3 of these BT calls.
The last call we received this morning – we challenged them and said our phone was being tapped by the police as we have received a few of these calls already – then they said “ do you want me to **** you!” I hung up.
Not sure if this will help but number came up as 02140915403.

If you have a phone which displays the number, it will usually be fake. The scammers have software which makes you think the call is local, rather than international – knowing that would make the call suspicious ! If you are unsure, you can always put the number into Googal, that will reveal if it is a real number or one used by scammers. If you don’t have the number, the first line of the patter will do !

I'm not sure if I should be reporting this to you or another of the contact details, but you are doing such a great job and I didn't get caught, so here goes:
I just received a call at work telling me my Amazon Prime membership is up for renewal and it will be £79. If I had any queries to dial 1.
I DO have Amazon Prime, but I checked my account on-line and it's not due until August!
I suspect this is a great way into people's accounts.

If you reported it to Action Fraud, they will record it. We then 'investigate' as far as possible and we check of the potential victim's welfare, particularly if they have lost money and signpost to support agencies.
We can only investigate crimes which occur here - the scams 'crimes' generally occur in the 'cloud' so there is international jurisdiction involved.
What we must do, is simply prevent people falling victim, by publicising current scams and frauds and the best way to do that, is not me telling people to put the phone down, but though other people's experiences and advice.
