The number of coronavirus cases in Berkshire has risen to more than 1,900 according to figures released by Public Health England today (April 28).

Nationwide, 161,145 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 and 21,678 have passed away.

This represents an increase of 3,996 and 586 respectively over the past 24 hours.

In Berkshire, there are now 1,907 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus - an increase of 33 over the same time period.

Reading, Berkshire, has the highest number of recorded cases in the county, with 448 patients testing positive.

Slough saw a smaller rise than normal, with the number increasing by four to 365.

Elsewhere, 303 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in West Berkshire, 357 in Wokingham, 233 in Windsor and Maidenhead, and 201 in Bracknell.

The total number of people who have died in Berkshire has increased by eight over the last 24 hours.

The latest figures from NHS England on Tuesday (April 28) show a total of 410 people have now died.

This is an increase of eight from yesterday (Monday April 27).
