Since the beginning of the lock down, members of our local community have reported an increase in the number of spam messages they have been receiving.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) says that people are more likely to fall victim to fraud or cyber offences, above any other crime. The reality is, everyone will be a victim of some sort of cybercrime throughout their lifetime.
However, you can minimise the risks of becoming a cyber victim through increasing your awareness of cyber crime and following simple steps to protect yourself online.
You can stay ahead of cyber criminals by reading our top cyber security steps that everyone needs to take:-
https://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/police-forces/thames-valley-police/areas/c/2018/protect-your-world/
If you fall victim to cyber crime, or experience an attempted scam, report it to:-

or by calling 0300 123 2040.

If you have been a victim of a cybercrime and you are struggling to cope, you can call Victims First (0300 1234 148).

Victims First is dedicated to making sure that all victims receive the support they need to cope and recover from the impact of the crime. It is available across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and can provide help regardless of whether or not the crime has been reported to the police.
More advice is available on their website: -

Second PC Ben video:
For those of you who have enjoyed the first episode of PC Ben, written, narrated and illustrated by our own PCSO David Bullock, and filmed and edited by PCSO Matt Wingrove, a second episode video, is now online on our Facebook Page.
We hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to share it with your family and friends:-
