We'd like you to know first about our reopening plans and when you can visit your local National Trust places again. We're following government advice closely and responding to changes as quickly as we can. Safety is our number one priority, so we'll reopen places gradually over a number of phases.

For now, our houses and gardens remain closed, but we are opening many of our outdoor spaces in England and we want to make visiting them as easy as possible for you. You'll see already that from this week we started to reopen some of our smaller, local car parks. For larger outdoor landscapes, open countryside and coast, our car parks tend to involve staff and facilities, such as toilets. These are taking a little longer to open and we aim to have them ready for you from next week. As these places are much bigger, they can accommodate large numbers of people. In order to protect our visitors, local communities and to ensure we are minimising any risk of spreading the virus, we've decided to introduce an online pre-booking system for our larger car parks. All our car parks continue to be free to you as a member.

We're giving you early warning that at some of our car parks, you'll need to pre-book a parking space as it will be the only way you will be able to access them. Please visit our website from Monday next week to check whether the car park you want to visit needs pre-booking. If it does you'll see there is a link which will take you to the booking system. Please do keep checking to keep up to date with our latest plans as things are changing fast.
