Six more people have tested positive in Berkshire for coronavirus - while four new deaths have been reported at trusts in the county.

The news comes as another 215 people have died in all settings in the UK, taking the total deaths to 38,376.


The total number of positive cases on Saturday across the county is 2,410.

As of today, Reading still has the highest number of cases in Berkshire, with 585 patients testing positive.

Slough is in second place with 453 cases.

In other parts of the county, 379 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in West Berkshire, 445 in Wokingham, 292 in Windsor and Maidenhead, and 256 in Bracknell.

The latest figures in Berkshire

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust  – 341 (three new deaths reported)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust  – 174 (no new deaths)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust  - 18 (one new death reported)

With the easing of lockdown restrictions continuing on Monday (June 1), Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden told the Downing Street press briefing the Government wanted to “re-establish some normality in other parts of our lives” as he announced the return of live sport.

He added: “For more than two months after sport stopped and after weeks of round-the-clock discussions with medical experts and  professional sports bodies, I’m delighted to announce today that the Government has published guidance which allows competitive sport to resume behind closed doors from Monday at the earliest.”

He said that: “Football, tennis, horseracing, Formula 1, cricket, golf, rugby, snooker and others are all set to return to our screens shortly.”
