NO CRIME TO REPORT FOR THE WHOLE OF MAIDENHEAD, OVER THE LAST 48 HOURS !!!!

NO BURGLARIES

AND

NO CARS BROKEN INTO

COMMUNITY SPEEDWATCH IS NOW UP AND RUNNING.

I have received this updated from Cllr Simon Bond, who is currently chairing our Community Speedwatch group

Unfortunately at this time, we do not have a volunteer to write the letters, pursuant to a Community Speedwatch, but we can still organise one, to establish there is a real, as opposed to a perceived, issue.  We are actively interviewing volunteers to do this for us and I will keep you updated.

UPDATE FROM CLLR SIMON BOND:

On Monday morning, a Community Speedwatch took place on Switchback Road North, which links Furze Platt with Cookham.

Community Speedwatch links up Neighbourhood Police, Councillors and residents, to monitor speeding hotspots, using the police’s ‘hand held speed indicator device’ - it looks like a hairdryer.

We monitor and list the car indexes of cars exceeding the speed limit, for that road.  We supply that list to the police, who when we are functioning properly, send a letter to the owners of speeding vehicles, explaining why exceeding the speed limit in that area, is reckless. Community involvement is essential and indicates the degree of concern from local residents and it generally encourages drivers, to be aware of their speed.

Councillor Mandy Brar from Cookham said, “Residents from both the Cookham and Furze Platt ends of the road, have expressed concern about speeding at this location. It is popular with cyclists and will be busy from September, when the academic year starts, as a lot of school students go from Cookham to the Furze Platt schools.”

Cllr. Catherine del Campo from Furze Platt added, “Through the North Maidenhead Community Action Group, we have been working with the police to bring back Community Speedwatch, particularly in built-up areas, where children tend to be out and about.”

Cllr. Mandy Brar for Bisham & Cookhamand and  Catherine were joined by Councillor Simon Bond of Belmont Ward, to carry out that Community SpeedWatch.

If you would like Simon to target your road, please email the details to me at my police email below and I will forward them to him.  He will need the location, and the times of day and days of the week the speeding takes place, when the situation is at its worst.  He will then make contact with you and invite you, or other neighbours, to attend the Community Speedwatch with him.
