Another 76 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Berkshire in the last 24 hours, according to the latest figures released today (Monday, October 12).

The biggest increase was again in Windsor and Maidenhead, where 19 new cases have been confirmed.

No new deaths have been reported at hospitals serving Berkshire.   

According to the latest statistics released at 4pm on Monday, another 13,972 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases to 617,688 since the start of the pandemic.

The government also said a further 50 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

This brings the UK total to 42,875.

This is how the figures break down in terms of cases for each area of Berkshire as of October 11:

Reading  : 1,121 cases  (increase of 12)
Slough  : 1,217 cases  ( increase of 16)
Wokingham  : 893 cases  (increase of 12)
West Berkshire  : 729 cases  (increase of nine)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 920 cases  (increase of 19)
Bracknell Forest  : 606 cases ( increase of eight)     
The total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire remains at 596, as detailed below:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 376 
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 202
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20

Meanwhile, a new three-tier system of local lockdown measures for England has today been announced by the Prime Minister in an effort to curb rising Covid-19 rates.

Different parts of the country will be split up into "medium", "high" or "very high" local coronavirus alert areas under the new system.

Areas in the third tier face bans on households mixing either indoors or outdoors, as well as other restrictions on mixing such as no overnight stays.
