The coronavirus rate in Slough has rocketed past 200 as another Berkshire area hits 100 for the first time and new lockdown rules are introduced.

The latest Public Health England figures in the week leading to Saturday, October 31, show Slough now has a rate of 212 cases per 100,000 people. This makes it by far the highest in Berkshire, and the only area above 200 in the county.

Elsewhere, Bracknell Forest's rate has hit 100 for the first time - up to 104.4 from 93 the previous week.

The rate in Windsor and Maidenhead is also rising towards 150 at 148.6, up from 134.7.

Reading's rate is also up from 118.7 to 136.6 per 100,000 people.

There is mixed news in Wokingham, where the area had seen a big drop from 102.9 to 83. However, that 83 has risen to 88.

A care home in the borough dealing with a coronavirus outbreak, has revealed two of its residents have died after testing positive.

In the rural area of West Berkshire cases have dropped from 94 to 88.4.

England has gone into a full lockdown, with businesses closing, restrictions on travel and on social interaction in place until Wednesday, December 2. You can follow updates on how the latest lockdown is impacting the county in our live blog here
