MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:-
FIRST: Bogus clothes charity collections
Hi Jeff
I really find your emails very useful and they help keep us alert in the neighbourhood !
Here's an example. Today between 08.00-15.00 there was a Charity bag collection by ‘Boot Out Breast Cancer’.
I noticed some bags on the pavement when I went out for run at 07.30 but my wife waited till about 08.00 before she put out our bag.
I think that a plain van [ though we didn't actually see it today] probably collected the earlier bags as my wife saw the BOBC van about 12.00 doing the official pick up as it had the Charity name on the side.
I've seen this behaviour once before in August for a different Charity bag collection and the driver then was in a hurry.
Please alert folks to keep to the pick up times as I feel sure there are some dodgy people around early in the morning, depriving Charities of their income. Perhaps the Charities who collect like this could be informed of this potential theft.
This incident could be a piece in a jigsaw.
Bob
Thanks Bob – If you are supplying clothes for this charity, can you keep an eye out and obtain a photo of and the index number of the white van

BUT – you must never put yourself at risk !
NEXT: A scam posing as the ‘Post Office’:
Hi Jeff,
I have got involved with a Nextdoor group online, if you haven't heard of them, they are invariably talking about an experience, or what doctor to register with, or gardener to use etc.. Someone today, is warning people that she had an email supposedly from the ‘Post Office’ who were unable to deliver a parcel and who said there was a small charge to re-arrange delivery – so presumably - bank details etc please.
Can you warn everyone ?
Mary
Thank you Mary.
