FIRST FROM THE BOROUGH:

Community Lateral Flow Testing

We are setting up lateral flow testing sites for critical and key workers, and anyone who needs to leave home for work or crucial activity.

The new variant of COVID-19 is spreading through our community, and one in three COVID-19 patients don’t present any symptoms.

Lateral flow testing (LFT) can identify positive COVID-19 cases in people who are not showing symptoms. This will help to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community by preventing these people from unknowingly spreading the virus.

When the LFT sites are up and running, eligible residents will get an email or text message inviting them to get a lateral flow test at a local test centre.

For more information about lateral flow testing, please visit:

https://www.berkshirepublichealth.co.uk/testing/lateral-flow-testing

Help keep our communities safe

A joint letter from the NHS and council leaders within the Frimley Health and Care System, which supports health services in the borough, has been published on our website today.

https://www.rbwm.gov.uk/news/joint-letter-nhs-and-local-council-leaders-within-frimley-health-and-care-system

The borough has high levels of COVID-19 infection and cases are still rising. The pressure on our NHS services is greater now than it has been at any previous stage in the pandemic, with an increase in the number of local people dying from the virus.

In the letter, they thank you and ask for your continued support. Please take the time to read the letter as it gives details of the things you can do to support the NHS and help keep your communities safe.

Ask for ANI

Ask for ANI (Action Needed Immediately) is a new Government codeword scheme to provide a discreet way for victims of domestic abuse to signal that they need emergency help.

Victims of domestic abuse in need of help can ‘Ask for ANI’ when they next visit their local pharmacy. A trained pharmacy worker will provide a private space where they can understand if the victim needs to speak to the police or would like help to access support services such as a national or local domestic abuse helpline.

The scheme will initially be available in all 2,300 Boots pharmacies across the UK as well as in over 250 independent pharmacies.

To find out more, read the Government news article about Ask for Ani.

NEXT:  We are aware of a company dropping off flyers advertising security services, which some people have found unsettling.  As in the past our advice is always the same.  Do not deal with companies that cold call, without carrying out a lot of prior research.  Generally, these security companies paint a really bad picture of the area in which you live and hope to frighten you, into purchasing their product.

Rely on the information you receive from the police.  You live in a very safe area and have very little crime.  If you want to confirm this, first check out www.Police.UK  Enter your postcode and you will see details of your local police Neighbourhood Team and details of reported crimes near you.

NEXT:  ANOTHER CASE OF SEXTORTION

A woman was contacted by a man on a dating website.  They chatted for some time and then started to share intimate and explicit photos.  The man then demanded that she meet him and be intimate.  She refused and attempted to block him.  He managed to get through to her again and threatened that if she was not intimate with him, he would send the photos to everyone in her personal address book.  She then reported this to the police.

CAN WE SAY AGAIN – NEVER – NEVER – SAY, DO, PHOTOGRAPH OR WRITE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET OR IN A TEXT, YOU WOULD NOT BE HAPPY FOR YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS, WORK COLLEAGUES – AND – EMPLOYERS – TO SEE.

YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE.

CRIME
I have attached reference numbers to each crime report. If you live in the vicinity of any of the crimes mentioned and have CCTV or a video doorbell, can you please check the footage. If you have any that might be of interest to the police, can you please make contact with us, quoting reference number given.

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:

FIRST:  A delivery scam email from Ann

Ann has an email supposedly from the Royal Mail, but actually from ‘Delivery Failed’

It goes on to say they have a parcel for her, but the full address is missing, so it remains at the depot until she clicks on the Link to complete the address.

She did exactly the right thing and binned it – If they didn’t have her full address in order to deliver the parcel – how did they find her email Huh??

STOP – BREATHE – THINK – BIN IT
