Did you know that when schools requested help with devices during the last lockdown to date they’ve received only around 50% of the number they needed for the pupils in need.
To think that the other half is missing out on so many months of precious education just because they don’t have devices.
I’m also aware that so many old but functioning laptops may be languishing around in drawers unused as we replace and upgrade them.
SO- it occurred to me that I could put a message out:
Does anyone have a functioning PC laptop (with power cord) that's perhaps a little old but still works, that they would be willing to donate to a kid that needs it?
I’ve spoken to a brilliant reputable repairman in Marlow who has kindly offered to donate his time to do the following:
1- Wipe the hard drive
2- Reset the devices to factory settings
3- Give it a little check to make sure it's functioning
4- We would like another 20 x laptops that we can refurbish and donate locally.
We have been so pleased with the response so far - within two weeks:
26 pledged - 12 in progress - 5 already donated to a local school
