Three Berkshire areas have experienced an increase in their Covid-19 infection rate, according to new data.

The latest Public Health England statistics show that West Berkshire has recorded a rise in its case rate for a third day, along with Reading, while Wokingham's rate has increased slightly too.

Friday's (May 20) figures also show 37 new cases were recorded across the county in the last 24 hours - with the most new cases in Reading and Slough.

The Government said a further nine people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 127,710.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 2,829 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,457,923.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending May 16:

Bracknell Forest: 9 (down from 10.6)
Reading: 26.6 (up from 22.9)
Slough: 25.4 (down from 27.4)
West Berkshire: 33.4 (up from 27.8 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 9.9 (down from 10.6)
Wokingham: 11.1 (up from 10.5)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,118 cases (no change)
Reading: 11,044 cases (+9)
Slough: 15,661 cases (+11)
West Berkshire: 6,511 cases (+5)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,565 cases (+6)
Wokingham: 8,321 (+6)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Friday, May 21:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 501 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)
How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to May 20 shows that of the 59,178,397 jabs given in the UK so far, 37,518,614 were first doses – a rise of 268,251 on the previous day.

Some 21,659,783 were second doses, an increase of 420,312.
