Just under 100 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across Berkshire as the county's daily number of new infections continued to increase.

The total of 98 - down from 108 yesterday.

Wokingham had the biggest increase, with 26 new cases. There were 16 in Reading and 22 in Bracknell Forest, plus 24 in Slough, six in West Berkshire and four in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Two areas of Berkshire saw a rise in weekly infection rates in figures for the seven days up to May 31 - the most recent available.

The Government said a further 5,765 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus had been recorded in the UK as of 9am on Saturday.

It said a further 13 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 127,836.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending May 31:

Bracknell Forest: 75.1 (up from 66.1)
Reading: 92.7 (no change)
Slough: 65.5 (down from 69.5)
West Berkshire: 26.5 (down from 28.4)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 14.5 (down from 15.2)
Wokingham: 64.3 (up from 60.2)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 7,285 cases (+22)
Reading: 11,320 cases (+16)
Slough: 15,869 cases (+24)
West Berkshire : 6,598 cases (+6)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,611 cases (+4)
Wokingham: 8,552 (+26)

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire as of Saturday, June 5:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,248 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust : 502 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)
How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to June 4 shows that of the 67,284,864 jabs given in the UK so far, 40,124,229 were first doses – a rise of 174,535 on the previous day.

Some 27,160,635 were second doses, an increase of 360,691.
