Another patient has died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire and the number of new coronavirus cases in the county has risen again.

The death was recorded at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Official figures published by Public Health England today (June 10) show that the number of positive cases has jumped from the 76 new cases recorded yesterday to 122 in the last 24 hours.

Today's figures show that Reading recorded the highest number of new cases, with 29 positive tests returned within 24 hours.

Wokingham and Bracknell Forest followed, with 28 and 23 cases respectively.

Coronavirus infection rates have also gone up in parts of the county, with Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham and Bracknell Forest all experiencing an increase in their seven-day rolling rate.

Bracknell Forest continues to have the highest infection rate in the county at 97.9 cases per 100,000 people. This is nearly double the national average, which stands at 50.3.

The Government said seven more people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 127,867.
Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 153,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 7,393 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.
