In today's Covid figures a total of 363 new cases were recorded in the county in the last 24 hours.

It is the highest number recorded since February 5, 2021, when 295 cases were found.

Reading recorded the most new cases, with 90 positive tests.

This news comes as Sajid Javid told MPs: “We have looked closely at the data against these four tests and we firmly believe this is the right time to get our nation closer to normal life.

“So, we will move to the next stage of our road map on July 19.

"To those who say why take this step now, I say if not now when?

“There will never be a perfect time to take this step because we simply cannot eradicate this virus – whether we like it or not, coronavirus is not going away.”

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending July 4:

Reading: 234.3 (up from 230.6)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 196.1 (up from 182.3)

Wokingham: 154.3 (up from 137.9)
West Berkshire: 138.8 (up from 135.7)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 12,869 cases (+90)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 9,497 cases (+52)

A further six people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 128,431.
