Double M4 road closure this weekend

The good news for M4 drivers is that the closures are not going to be at the same time, with one following the other.

The first closure is from 9pm on Friday, August 20 and will see the carriageway shut in both directions between junction 13 at Chieveley and 14 at Hungerford.

This work will see the use of a large crane to replace the central reservation.

Once the work is completed, the motorway will reopen with narrow lanes and a 50mph limit until the project is finished.

The closure will inevitably mean delays on other parts of the M4 and a signed diversion will be in place.

There are severe delays on the M4 motorway in West Berkshire on Saturday afternoon due to a closure.

Both the westbound carriageway and eastbound carriageway are shut to traffic between Junction 14 ( Hungerford ) and Junction 13 ( Newbury /Chieveley).
