Author Topic: Berkshire records more than 400 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours  (Read 1169 times)

Official statistics today (August 22) show that there have been 419 new coronavirus cases found in Berkshire in the last 24 hours.

The highest number was found in Reading, where 89 people tested positive for Covid-19.

It was followed by Wokingham, where 75 positive tests were returned, as reported by Public Health England.

Bracknell Forest had the lowest number of new cases, with 48.

The Government has said a further 40 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 131,680.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 156,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 31,914 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Some 41,810,753 were second doses, an increase of 116,352.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending August 18:

Bracknell Forest: 288.3 (down from 290.7)
West Berkshire: 298.5 (up from 284)
Reading: 323.7 (up from 323.1)
Slough: 286.8 (down from 293.5)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 316.6 (up from 308.1)
Wokingham: 325.4 (up from 308.1)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 16,022 (+89)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 12,221 (+69)
Slough: 19,077 (+61)
Bracknell Forest: 10,661 (+51)
Wokingham: 12,623 (+75)
West Berkshire : 9,943 (+74)
