Two further deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded in Berkshire along with 530 new cases of the pandemic illness in the last 24 hours.

Latest figures from Public Health England now show there have been 87,893 coronavirus cases across Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

Seven-day infection rates, based on data in the week ending September 3, again show an increase in every local authority across the county.

The two new deaths were recorded in Slough.

The largest one-day increase across Berkshire came in Windsor and Maidenhead, where 106 cases were discovered over the 24 hours up to 9am this morning (September Cool.

The second-highest was in West Berkshire where there were 101 new cases.

In Reading there were 99 new cases, Wokingham had 99 too, in Slough there were 61, while the lowest across Berkshire was in Bracknell Forest, where there were 64 new coronavirus cases.

The Government said a further 191 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 133,674.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 158,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 38,975 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Government data up to September 7 shows that of the 91,940,381 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,319,435 were first doses, a rise of 26,624 on the previous day.

Some 43,620,946 were second doses, an increase of 85,848.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 3:

Bracknell Forest: 331 (up from 318.1)
West Berkshire: 456.3 (up from 432.3)
Reading: 382.3 (up from 369.2)
Slough: 294.2 (up from 278.Cool
Windsor and Maidenhead: 387.4 (up from 365.6)
Wokingham: 397.3 (up from 387.5)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Bracknell Forest: 11,526 (+64 )
West Berkshire : 11,379 (+101 )
Reading: 17,379 (+99 )
Slough: 20,108 (+61)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 13,502 (+106)
Wokingham: 13,999 (+99)
