One new death linked to Covid-19 and 310 further cases of the pandemic illness have been reported in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

The death was recorded in Reading, meaning there have now been 1,470 coronavirus deaths in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

The highest number of new cases was in Slough, where 66 further infections were found.

The second highest area was Reading where 65 positive tests were returned.

There have now been 90,078 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

The Government said a further 201 people had died in the UK within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the national total to 134,647.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 159,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 30,597 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Government data up to September 14 shows that of the 92,650,551 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,480,178 were first doses, a rise of 21,478 on the previous day.

Some 44,170,373 were second doses, an increase of 61,627.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 9:

Reading: 315.6 (down from 335.5)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 345.1 (down from 368.2)
Slough: 282.8 (down from 297.5)
Bracknell Forest: 234.4 (down from 256.1)
Wokingham: 268.5 (down from 289.7)
West Berkshire: 294.1 (down from 342)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 17,828 (+65)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 13,929 (+50)
Slough: 20,482 (+66)
Bracknell Forest: 11,758 (+38)
Wokingham: 14,394 (+51)
West Berkshire : 11,687 (+40)
