A further 340 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Berkshire in the past 24 hours.

The new infections, announced today (September 17) in the latest daily figures from Public Health England, mean there have now been 90,770 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

The highest number of new cases was in Reading where 75 infections were found.

There were no new deaths recorded in Berkshire as of 9am today, meaning the number of Covid fatalities in the area remains at 1,470.

The Government said a further 178 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 134,983.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 159,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 32,651 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending September 12:

Reading: 296.9 (down from 305)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 309.4 (down from 328.5)
Slough: 252 (down from 264.7)
Bracknell Forest: 207.8 (down from 224.7)
Wokingham: 246.6 (down from 266.Cool
West Berkshire: 223.4 (down from 248.6)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 17,976 (+75)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 14,077 (+65)
Slough: 20,600 (+63)
Bracknell Forest: 11,845 (+41)
Wokingham: 14,509 (+60)
West Berkshire : 11,763 (+36)
