Another two people have died after catching coronavirus in Berkshire, according to official statistics.

The most recent deaths took place in Reading and Windsor and Maidenhead.

Today's update also revealed that 266 new cases of the virus had been recorded across the county in the last 24 hours.

Windsor and Maidenhead found the most new cases after 86 positive tests were returned, followed by Slough, where there were 53 new cases.

West Berkshire had the fewest new cases with 17.

The Government said a further 127 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 136,789.

As of 9am on Friday, there had been a further 35,577 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.

Government data up to September 29 shows that of the 93,765,322 Covid jabs given in the UK, 48,863,490 were first doses, a rise of 34,372 on the previous day.

Some 44,901,832 were second doses, an increase of 34,459.

Here are the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people in Berkshire for the week ending October 1:

Reading: 320.6 (up from 310 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 374.2 (down from 378.8 )
Slough: 298.2 (up from 288.8 )
Bracknell Forest: 318.9 (up from 298.8 )
Wokingham: 312.2 (up from 284.6 )
West Berkshire: 260 (up from 253.1 )

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic, plus the change in the last 24 hours (in brackets):

Reading: 18,910 (+19)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 15,170 (+86)
Slough: 21,491 (+53)
Bracknell Forest: 12,543 (+45)
Wokingham: 15,534 (+46)
West Berkshire : 12,517 (+17)
