The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is inviting residents to join Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this summer by applying to hold street parties in their communities.
Events and initiatives marking Her Majesty’s milestone 70 years of service as monarch to the UK and Commonwealth will be held throughout the year, building to celebrations over the extended Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June.
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, the council is asking anyone wishing to hold a party on the public highway to ensure they apply for a temporary road closure by the deadline and follow a few simple steps to help organise their day.
Check that the date of your proposed street party doesn’t clash with any other events in your area. This can be checked at
www.one.networkYou will need to provide a clear map or plan showing the extent of the proposed road closure and diversion for through-traffic. This will need to show the placement of ‘Road Closed’ and ‘Diversion’ signs
You will also need to provide an event management plan covering when the event is taking place and relevant contact numbers for the organiser/s, how the area will be set up, when, how and who will be responsible for placing and removing the signage and how emergency vehicles will be provided access
You’ll be glad to know that the council will pay the legal fees for the temporary road closure.
The event organiser is still responsible for providing, putting up and removing all legally-required signage. These will need to be compliant with legislation
Please consider obtaining Public Liability Insurance cover. This can be purchased for a premium of around £75 from a reputable insurance broker.

This summer’s celebrations will be a chance for communities in our borough to come together, raise a glass in her honour and make memories that I hope will last a lifetime.”

“Please let us know early about your plans and we will do our very best to advise you so that your party can go ahead and happen safely.”
Applications for temporary road closures need to be made at least 10 weeks in advance to meet legal requirements. The closing date for all applications is Friday 25 March 2022. Applications received after that date will not be considered.
