Pandemic restrictions have been lifted in time for the locals to relaunch their annual Spring Clean of Cookham Dean. Organisations in Cookham Dean are getting together with the National Trust to arrange a litter pick on Saturday 19th March. Co-ordinated by Cookham Dean’s Village Club, the event will be based from the Village Hall in Church Road and run from 9:45 until 12:00.
Village Club Secretary, Peter Austen, said “In previous years, our Spring Clean has seen more than 70 villagers join in our Village Club initiative and collect around 100 bags of rubbish from the roads, paths and hedgerows of Cookham Dean. Many people were surprised at just how much litter lurked under hedges and beside roads and paths. This is a great opportunity for villagers to come together and make a big difference in a short time. We are privileged to live in a beautiful area in Cookham Dean which has so much green space which we all enjoy much more when it is litter free.”
The Village Club is banding together with several other local groups, including Wild Cookham, the local Horticultural Society, St John the Baptist Church, the Women’s Institute and Cookham Dean School to create a huge team of volunteers to cover the whole village in the two hours.
