WildCookham has taken a special interest in our local glow worm population and we're offering several opportunities to find out more about these extraordinary beetles. Our survey last summer revealed new locations for them and we will be repeating the survey this year with the hope of finding more populations in our local habitats. This is part of a three-part programme, with first a public talk tomorrow about glow worms followed by a Glow worm evening Safari around one of the Cookham locations on Friday 8th July. Meanwhile we're looking for people to help with the survey through the summer.
Our talk tomorrow night (Wednesday 22nd June, 7.30pm) at Cookham Library's Community Room has one of the country's leading glow worm experts, Robin Scagell, giving us an update on the status of UK glow worms while Jacqui Edwards, who leads our glow worm project, will be taking us through the story of Cookham's glow worms with details of where we have found them and plans for our 2022 survey.
The Glow worm Safari on Friday 8th July will be led by Robin Scagell and offers a chance to see some of the glow worms in action.
Both events are on our Meetup site.
